Collection contains selected church records (1791-1971) including minutes, financial information, reports, journals, registers, rolls, correspondence, and miscellaneous items. Records include the minutes of meetings of the Board of Trustees, monthly and quarterly conferences, the Cumberland Church Benevolent Society, and the Juvenile Missionary Society. Financial records include proposed budgets (1966-1968), invoices, receipts, treasurer's reports, and cash books. A journal (1926) concerns the purchase of the Westminster Presbyterian Church building (Trinity's present building) and includes repair contracts, invoices, bank statements, counter checks, promissory notes, telegrams, letters, and a list of contributors. Registers include a list of births and baptisms (1792-1796), a list of gallery pew renters (1794-1804), a marriage register (1791-1802), a list of members and pastors of Cumberland and Trinity Church (1843-1928), and the church register (1922-1959) of Trinity United Methodist Church. Miscellaneous items include programs, a yearbook (1954), and newspapers (1902) containing articles about the laying of the cornerstone for Trinity's new church building.

Charleston (S.C.) church. Trinity United Methodist Church began in 1786 as the Cumberland Street Methodist Episcopal Church with 35 white and 23 black members. In 1791 part of Cumberland's congregation withdrew to form Trinity Primitive Methodist Church, but the two congregations reunited in 1861 after Cumberland's building was lost in a fire.
